Here's the new 2012 DPX HEST II Woodsman - latest entry of the fine DPx line of extreme survival cutlery.  The HEST (Hostile Environment Survival Tool) was designed by Robert Young Pelton.  Mr. Pelton is an adventurer, filmmaker and author of the books "The World's Most Dangerous Places", "Come Back Alive" and "Licensed to Kill".  This impressive second generation compact knife is designed to be the perfect lightweight survival knife - with a harder, sharper, longer lasting blade. The scales on the HEST II are thick providing more storage area and a meatier grip. Measures 7 1/2" overall.

 

Uddeholm Sleipner tool steel is a chromium-vanadium-molybdenum alloy (7% Cr, 0.5% V, 2.5% Mo) much like D2 steel and characterized by its edge retention, ease of sharpening, and resistance to wear and chipping. The Sleipner tool steel also has excellent “tooth” for repetitive, fine cutting. The premium 3 1/8" Sliepner German tool steel blade has a Stonewash finish. This knife also features hollow handles designed for storing survival materials like fire starter or water-purification tablets. The handsome Brazillian Santos hardwood scales are attached with two slotted/Allen screws made of 304 stainless. Showcases an Integrated wire stripper (3 sizes), bottle opener, hex wrench, striker pommel, pry bar and lanyard hole.
