The Bark River Golok has it's roots in the Traditional Tools of the region of Indonesia. This type of tool has been used for Centuries and has proven to be one of the most useful for Bushcraft. The Golok is Light and Compact and is easy to carry for a large knife. It Excels at Trail Clearing, Chopping, Shelter Building, Notching and Splitting Firewood. We feel it is one of the Best Bushcraft Tools available on Today's Market. The 2008 Version is a little wider in the blade and the overall length is just under 17 Inches. This is a BIG knife, and features a 11 inch 1095 High Carbon Alloy steel blade which has more weight, but is well-balanced and has the point in just the right place for excellent control. The handle measures a full 5 5/8 inches and is contoured to accommodate more sustained use with comfort. White Bone Micarta is one of the most durable handle materials, and finishes up beautifully with a nice mild texture that aids in gripping without being sticky in the hand. We have chosen the Micarta because it is virtually indestructable. Once installed, the finished handle is totally impervious to heat, cold, dampness and even total immersion in water or oil. The Handle features distinctive finger grooves and includes a lanyard hole. Balance point is One Inch in front of the handles.
